Title	BROADCASTING STATISTICS, EASIER AND MORE ACCURATE!

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC, Chairman Kim Hong-il) operates a broadcasting statistics website named Mediastat (www.mediastat.or.kr) to provide easy access to various statistics regarding the broadcasting sector, and its number of users is steadily increasing by expanding types of statistics and developing user-friendly screen development. Mediastat is a representative broadcasting statistics platform in Korea, providing 12 main statistics and 939 statistics tables, including broadcasting usage status and OTT market in diverse forms, such as reports and visualized materials in the broadcasting and media sector. The KCC improved user convenience by completely reorganizing the screen and menu location of the website in 2023, exposing popular information, such as monthly most viewed statistics and shortcuts to the center of the main screen, and reorganizing the website design to make it easier to use. In addition, it began to provide OTT-related statistics, including overseas OTT usage status and overseas OTT market research, which topped the survey asking for necessary broadcasting statistics. It also added statistics visualization, which was one of the improvement requirements of the survey, such as a visualization dashboard and infographics, to allow users to quickly grasp the main figures. As a result, a total of 65,842 people visited the website last year. The number of views of statistics tables and downloads increased by 5.5% and 30.6%, respectively. This shows that the interest and availability of broadcasting statistics significantly increased. The KCC will put more effort into providing easier and more accurate broadcasting statistics in 2024. The search system to be developed with a new search algorithm will allow users to quickly find the material they are looking for. It will also enhance the public's understanding and capability who are not familiar with statistics to use statistics by providing detailed explanations and adding easy-to-find descrptions for each report. Meanwhile, the KCC will host four participative events throughout the year to raise awareness of broadcasting statistics and expand experiences using statistics. The first event will be held from the end of March for a month, and anyone can participate in it through Mediastat. ### The Korea Communications Commission
