KCC opens up the Latin American Market

Korean Communications Commission visited Peru and Brazil from 12th to 21st of March. They promoted Korean technology service of WiBro and IPTV and communicated Korean companies’ interest to other governments through the export consultation inning and cooperation talks among governments.
KCC presented status quo of WiBro and IPTV services and also hold a road-show in collaboration with Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy. As a result, the US$20million of the actual export consultation record was attained. At the same time, KCC has agreed that it will be a Win-Win strategy that Peru having abundant natural resources cooperate with Korea having the world’s leading IT technology through the cooperation talks with Mr. Enrique Cornejo Ramirez, Peruvian Minister of Transportation and Communications. In addition, KCC asked him the government’s support when the mobile WiMAX and IPTV are introduced into Peru, it could be possible that Korean companies participate in establishing those.
In Brazil, KCC and MKE took part in the IT Road show together regarding WiBro, IPTV and DMB. Laerte Davi Cleto, Public Policy Specialist in Brazilian Ministry of Communications promised the quick certificate process of WiBro equipment in the 2.4GHz spectrum and showed the desire of a policy exchange between two countries, which implies establishing broadband networks and IPTV via the cooperation talks.
KCC announced that they will introduce Korean excellent IT technology through the short-period training programs concerning Wibro and IPTV to Latin countries’ governments and strengthen cooperative activities such as establishing cooperation networks among governments as soon as possible in order that Korean IT companies successfully advance into Latin America.
