Korean administrative organs will introduce VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) in earnest.
MPAC (Ministry of Public Administration and Security) set the details of the plan for introducing VoIP as holding "administrative organs’ presentation for choosing a VoIP company" to explain a plan for choosing a company at NIA (National Information Society Agency) on 11th February.
For the presentation, about 40 companies such as KT, SK broadband, LG Dacom were attended.
MPAC has noticed that they would decide a plan to support VoIP by March, give a business announcement in April and they would choose a company in May.
On the business, a single administrative telephone network which currently consists of PSTN (public switched telephone network) will be replace by Internet telephone network, MPAC plans to choose 4 companies for the project.
MPAC expects that they will be able to reduce a cost up to KRW 23 billion per year because they do not have to install leased line in introducing VoIP case.
Especially, MPAC is going to escape a biased view against specific companies but makes a fair atmosphere for competition as long as the competitors agrees on a network opening.
